Strategy 8 Long + Short Record

A systematic strategy's long book, traded in a simulated (paper) brokerage account, shown beside a hypothetical short book that places no orders. No real money is at risk in these results.
Includes hypothetical results
Risk. Trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for everyone. Past results are not necessarily indicative of future results. The short book and the combined figures are hypothetical.Full disclosures ↓

Combined HYPOTHETICAL

The long book's account value plus the hypothetical short book's value, added together in dollars from Sep 21, when the long book's current version started. The short side is backfill (a backtest) until Oct 8 and forward record after; the shaded band marks the backfill period. This is a sum of two records, not a traded account.

Simulated and hypothetical results. No real money was traded. The long book comes from a simulated (paper) brokerage account. The short book is hypothetical: no orders were placed for it in any account, real or paper, and no capital was allocated to it. The combined figures add the two and are therefore also hypothetical. These results are based on simulated or hypothetical performance results that have certain inherent limitations. Unlike the results shown in an actual performance record, these results do not represent actual trading. Also, because these trades have not actually been executed, these results may have under-or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated or hypothetical trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to these being shown.

Risk. Trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for everyone. Losses can exceed the amounts shown here, and the strategy can lose money for long stretches.

Record windows. The long book's record covers the current version of the strategy, measured from the account's net liquidation value of $1,155,751 at 8:26 pm ET on Sep 21, 2026. An earlier version with materially different rules ran in the same paper account from May 24 to Sep 21, 2026; its results are available on request. The short book is shown from Sep 21, 2026, the same start as the long book. From Sep 21 through Oct 8 its figures are backfill: a backtest computed on Oct 9 by running the system over past prices, which are hypothetical results designed with the benefit of hindsight. Its forward record, calculated each night as it happened, begins after the Oct 8 close. Its value on Sep 21 itself comes from that backtest, which began on Jan 30, 2026; positions it held on Sep 21 count only for their gains and losses afterwards. The combined record starts on Sep 21, 2026, and is part backfill until Oct 8.

How performance is calculated. Long book: the broker's net liquidation value, recorded once each night at 8:26 pm ET, never intraday; open positions are valued at the prices current at that time, not exchange settlement prices. It is after the paper broker's simulated commissions and includes interest credited on cash. Closed-trade P&L is generally before commissions; a trade shows "pending" until the broker's exact fill is confirmed. Short book: the system's calculation from market prices (for the backfill, past daily prices; for the forward record, prices collected at its nightly run), at the contract sizes it would have traded; it includes no commissions, slippage, margin costs or interest. Combined: the dollar sum of the two values on each date both were recorded, with return measured on their total at Sep 21. Both books compound their gains and losses; no capital has been added or withdrawn. Results do not reflect any management, incentive or performance fee, or any subscription or advisory fee; such fees would reduce the results shown.

Correlation. Calculated from the daily percentage changes of the two books over the sessions shown. With few sessions it can change substantially as more are added.

Paper account. Long-book orders are placed with a broker's simulated trading account. Its fills can differ from what a real account would receive, particularly in fast or thin markets.
